eCommerce activity revenue

eCommerce activity revenue is the sum of all first-party gross sales and/or third-party GMV generated on all online platforms that are operated by a company or its subsidiaries. It is a figure that ECDB uses to measure all transactions that are conducted by an eCommerce company, regardless of its business model.

Because eCommerce activity revenue includes the GMV by third-party sellers on online marketplaces, and in some cases also returns, marketplace commission and service fees (such as shipping costs), the eCommerce activity revenue can be higher than the company’s total revenue. The eCommerce activity revenue is used here at ECDB to compare eCommerce companies more immediately.
